Information for Users
- Users must take Harvard’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Basic Lab Safety Training in order to use our facility. Please see the EH&S website for information regarding training schedules.
- Absolutely no food or beverages may be brought into the facility.
- We reserve the right to prohibit further use of the facility if our staff and committee members believe that a User is not properly trained or is working in an unsafe manner.
- Facility Users must follow the User Dress Code and Chemical Safety Rules
- As a courtesy, advance reservation is required for equipment listed on the facility scheduling tool. Users are prohibited from scheduling time online for another user, even if they are members of the same research group or have the same affiliation. Only authorized users are allowed to schedule and use equipment.
- All Users are prohibited from giving out their account username and/or password for use by other users, or from giving other users their HUID or access card for the card swipe access controlling the facility. We reserve the right to deny future access to any user who willfully violates this policy.
- Users are required to properly and accurately enter all information requested in logbooks. Users are required to PRINT their full names (first and last) in all equipment logbooks. Users are required to enter in all equipment logbooks the time they entered and left the facility and any other information requested by the logbook.
- To allow the facility to run smoothly, users are urged to log any problems they encounter during their session in the logbook.
- Harvard Environmental Health & Safety maintains a MSDS database. If you wish to bring any chemicals or biological materials into facility lab space that is not listed on the MSDS database, the notify facility director and staff by email in advance.
